Whitby 1995 Girls B Soccer Team
Essay
We, the 1995 girls soccer team, are entering the Mortgage Alliance Sing & Win contest. We believe we have what it takes to win the prize money, as our team is a very dedicated, hard-working bunch of girls. As a team, we have the drive, discipline and ambition to win our games and move forward in the CGSL standings. We are currently in 2nd place and are fighting for first overall in our league so we can be promoted to the premier league next year.
As a whole, we believe that this prize money will benefit us greatly. It will make us eligible for many opportunities, as we will be able to travel more. Specifically, we would like to travel to the United States for showcase tournaments. Attending these functions will be Scouts for Universities and Colleges all throughout the US. This puts us in good positions to receive scholarships and fulfill our dreams of becoming professional players or playing at a higher level while receiving an education.

ISK Karate Team
Essay
The ISK Karate Team has developed over the past 16 years to become one of the elite competitive teams within the Karate Ontario tournament circuit. With members ranging from 6 years and up, and from the beginner to black belt skill levels, we are a group of dedicated, enthusiastic, and focused athletes. There are multiple local and provincial tournaments to attend throughout the year. From there, those who are 14 and older can earn the opportunity to continue to National and International competitions. The ISK Team is comprised of numerous returning champions at all levels, who then use their skills and knowledge to assist the younger and newer members’ development.
We are entering the Mortgage Alliance Singing Contest in the hopes of winning some money that will enable us to update our equipment and assist those in need with traveling to larger tournaments for further opportunities.
Sitting Pucks
Essay
The Sitting Pucks are 14 individuals who have discovered a love for hockey a bit later in our lives. We all started playing as adults, and many of us took a beginner program together. While we play in the recreational divisions, this is our NHL. We are constantly striving to improve our skills – from the very basics of skating, to more complicated stick handling, and the daunting task of shooting. Every goal is an accomplishment and of significant importance in games. While we are competitive and want to win, we also know that this is just a game, and we have a lot of fun as a team. As older athletes, we are all juggling jobs, new families and other responsibilities, while still finding the time to play this great Canadian game! The Sitting Pucks are entering this contest in the hopes of off-setting our team costs.
